3 Tips For Proper Care Of Contact Lenses

Michelle Hopkins

Did you just recently get some new contact lenses? If so, then here are some tips on how to properly care for them that you may want to consider.

1. Be Careful During Your Daily Beauty Regimen

When washing your face or applying makeup, you need to be extremely careful not to let soap or any of your cosmetics products come in contact with your contact lenses. Also, you should never apply hairspray while wearing your contact lenses. Being diligent about keeping your beauty products away from your lenses should go a long ways in helping to keep them in excellent condition.

Powder eye shadow tends to have a more dry and crumbly texture than cream eyeshadow does. This makes it much more likely to fall into eyes and get all over your contact lenses. Therefore, whenever possible, it's best for women with contacts to stick to using cream eyeshadow rather than powder eyeshadow.

2. Cleanliness Is Of The Utmost Importance

Keeping your contact lenses clean is absolutely critical. Keeping your lenses clean will help to keep them performing at their very best. It will also help to prevent eye infections.

You should make sure that you wash your hands with soap thoroughly right before you put your contact lenses in. Also, it's very important that you clean, rinse, and disinfect your contact lenses every single time that you remove them.

It's also crucial that you clean the case that you keep your contact lenses in on a daily basis. This will help ensure that no harmful dirt, dust, or bacteria come in contact with your lenses. It's also a good idea to replace your lens case with a brand new one approximately every 2 to 3 months.

3. Avoid Wearing Contacts While Swimming Or Showering

Before swimming or taking a shower, you should always remove your contact lenses first. The reason for this is that various types of water can harbor bacteria that is very dangerous to your eyes and may even cause a serious eye infection. You should also avoid wearing your lenses during any other sort of water related activity such as kayaking, water skiing, sailing, tubing, or going on a motor boat ride.

There's no doubt that properly caring for your contact lenses can sometimes involve a lot of time and effort. Luckily, though, trying even just one or two of these tips should help make things much easier for you. Go to sites offering more information on the topic if you are interested
